Our History
"Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God" -- 1 Peter 2:10
CrossRoads Church was chartered as a United Methodist Congregation with 225 members on October 9, 1995. Many of our members came from other Methodist congregations and sister churches. CrossRoads was born in response to a dream of starting a new church in southeast Shelby County. For this dream to be realized, St. James United Methodist Church chose to close its doors and become a part of this new congregation. Available meeting space was found in a warehouse in north Mississippi, just across the Tennessee and Shelby County line. This became home for nearly three years. In 1998, we moved into our first phase of construction, a multi-purpose complex, located on 15 acres of land at the corner of Shelby Drive and Mayfield Road, near the Lakes of Forest Hills subdivision. Within a few months, we were able to complete phase two, a beautiful chapel. One of our goals in 1995 was to double our membership within the first five years as CrossRoads Church. We are proud to announce that this has been accomplished ahead of schedule. Plans now are to double again within the next five years. God's vision and our dreams are becoming a reality with the leading of the Holy Spirit and the dedication and determination of CrossRoad's leaders. We cordially invite you to enable us to continue to make history, and we welcome you into this faith community called CrossRoads. |
